Thank you for agreeing to fill out this survey! All mothers who gave birth may fill out a survey. It doesn't matter when or how you gave birth. Please fill out ONE survey per CHILDBIRTH EXPERIENCE (please do not lump all your birth experiences.) Individual answers will not appear in my book, but statistics will be presented in percentages. All of your answers will remain anonymous to Khristee unless you wish to be included in the random drawing for the opportunity to win a free prize. Khristee is giving out prizes for filling out this survey. Khristee hopes to receive at least 1000 surveys for her book. For greater chances of winning, you may fill out one survey per childbirth experience. If you filled out your survey/s earlier, you do not need to resubmit to be eligible for the next prize; you are in the running. Thank you!

Also, please note there has been some confusion, the two categories are unmedicated birth and medicated birth. Even though it says natural childbirth, please think of it as unmedicated (no medications given). Mothers who had scheduled or emergency C-sections, please select medicated birth. Mothers who didn't have any medication during or after labor, please select the first option, no meds. If you had any medication, artificial oxytocin, antiobiotics etc,, please selected medicated birth. Also please note the following definitions to avoid confusion:

Baby Blues refers to the period after birth up to a month when a mother is very emotional (crying, frustrated, mood swings, not being herself). This is hormonal but goes away after a few weeks or a month.

Postpartum Depression/Postpartum Anxiety is more severe and is debilitating. It is not caused by a specific event. This includes mood swings and symptoms that occur right after birth and last from a month to years. Symptoms may include: an inability to sleep, inability to concentrate, not bonding with the baby, brain fog, anxiety or depression, anger (sometimes rage), lack of joy, extreme fatigue, not finding pleasure in things that used to give you pleasure. (This is not situational based on anything that has happened such as death in the family or job loss or about thinking about something that happened that makes you sad.)

Postpartum Psychosis is more severe than postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety and includes suicidal thoughts or thoughts about harming the baby, delusions, and sometimes hallucinations.

Depression is caused by an outside event such as a divorce, death in the family, loss of job, isolation, loneliness, break-up, not enough support, comparing yourself to others such as feeling not good enough, feeling overwhelmed, sadness about life changing and things not being how they used to be or how you would like them to be. (a mourning of sorts). Depression can be short or long.

Please also note for the purposes of the survey that Gas and Air, Pudendal nerve block, antibiotics, and a Pitocin or Methergine shot etc. are considered medicated births. In most countries, medicated births are births with medications to alleviate pain, but for this survey any medication is considered a medicated birth.
