MORE INFORMATION
Homeownership for low-income households and Black families with limited income has historically been a barrier to wealth accumulation. The wealth gap has widened over the last decade, and our efforts to empower Black educators is a model that offers enormous payout in economic development for the city of Indianapolis. We have evaluated the opportunities for educators and Black residents regarding homeownership and plan to layer benefits atop existing options to increase access and participation among teachers. Our Teacherville initiative is our support to provide financial assistance for first-time home buyers that are black educators.
Disclaimer: Educators will need to identify as Black or African American and work in a public school located in Marion County, Indiana, and want to purchase a property in Martindale Brightwood Community to be eligible for financial support
