Accessibility Grant Application
Moishe House’s mission is to “provide every Jewish young adult with access and resources to the Jewish community.” In order to fulfill that mission, Moishe House has launched the Accessibility Grant for 2022. These funds are intended to cover expenses for accommodations to Moishe Houses, Moishe Pods, and their programming so that participants of varying abilities are able to attend and participate.
North American residents (the United States and Canada) may request up to $500 USD per year, and Global residents (outside the United States/Canada) may request up to $750 USD per year. Residents may apply multiple times per year (up to $500 or $750 USD total per year).
What can be purchased with this grant:
● Temporary ramps for main entries (where steps are present).
● Grab bars for bathrooms to be installed.
● Fidget toys/items for participants who need them to stay engaged in programs.
● Whiteboard and markers or chalkboard and chalk to write menu items for meals or agendas for programs.
● Earplugs for those who are more sensitive to loud noises.
● Cushions for hard chairs.
Items for a quiet area/room (an area for those who are overstimulated to take a break during programming):
- Comfortable chair (inflatable, bean bag, etc.).
- Dimmable lamp.
- Coloring books and coloring utensils.
Services and Training:
- Sign language interpretation.
- Braille translation and printing.
- Inclusion, accessibility, or disability training for residents.
- Accessible transportation to/from a program for a community member.
