This survey is for current residents, business owners and/or workers in the city of Mt. Vernon, NY, from February 21, 2022 to March 7, 2022.
In October 2020, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard formed the Mt. Vernon Police Reform Commission ( MVPRC ) under NY Gov. Cuomo’s Executive Order No. 203. One of the recommendations of that commission was to have an annual citizen-directed survey, that was drafted by MVPRC members, to gauge the City’s perspective on law enforcement. It will be used as a tool to assess where improvements are needed with police and community relations and to compare against other year's perceptions. Data is compiled and presented by volunteer citizens in the community.
