Thank you for your interest in being part of Educate ME’s Black Teacher Residency (BTR). BTR is a two-year alternative certification training and graduate program.

Eligible candidates will benefit from a tuition scholarship, mentor teacher training, and a supportive cohort of Black teachers invested in long-term education careers.

Founded on the principles of centering the student experience and understanding your power as an educator. Based on the core values of Community, Empowerment, Advocacy, Empathy and Excellence, the residency aims to increase the number of Black educators in the classroom from 9% to 20% nationally and to increase the number of BIPOC educators overall.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you start this application:
There are minimum requirements to becoming a resident. Please review and complete the preliminary eligibility checklist on the next page prior to completing the full application proceed.

At the end of the application, you will be asked to include the following items:

Disclaimer: The BTR program is located in Indianapolis, IN and is in partnership with Klipsch Educators College at Marian University. Applicants will be required to apply to the MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching) program and be admitted by Marian University to be fully approved by Educate ME.
