UK Cyberflashing Consent Legislation Pledge

Since 2021, Bumble, UN Women UK, Grazia, and other organisations have been campaigning to ensure that cyberflashing is included in the Online Safety Bill. Central to this is a consent-based approach, ensuring consent (or lack of) is the basis of the legislation.

Current proposed Cyberflashing legislation is based on proving intent, which is hard to validate and prove.

Cyberflashing is not a joke. Bumble’s research shows that nearly half of people aged 18-24 in the UK have been sent a sexual photo they did not ask for. Unsolicited sexual photos are sent every day via apps, texts, and wifi, making people around you feel distressed, unsafe, and violated in their everyday lives.
