What is MEMSI?
MEMSI is a two-week-long, intensive tech entrepreneurship bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs who attend MIT or one of the UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong. The program is designed for those who want to advance their skills in entrepreneurship, prototyping, product development and business modelling in the context of a real-world industry challenge. MEMSI 2024 will run from Jan 15th - 26th (Jan 21 off) for Hong Kong Students / Jan 15th - 30th (Jan 21 off) for MIT Students*.
*For MIT Students (please read): MEMSI this year will embed an extended innovation experience with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP). To be eligible for the program as a MIT student, you will need to have a pre-formed startup team in any industry area (preferably an idea with relevant application for the aviation sector) and have three active student members from MIT, and be willing to commit fully to both the MEMSI program (Jan 15-26) and the venture-building HKSTP Techathon+ program (Jan 26-30) to gain deeper exposure to the ecosystem and meet global teams. Year 3, 4 and graduate students are preferred.
All 3 team members will have to submit their own application (3 application submissions per team and make sure to fill in the same team name). More information about this can be found at https://memsi.mit.edu/program/faq.
Who may apply from Hong Kong?
Undergraduate and graduate students in degree-bearing programs at MIT or any of our partner universities in Hong Kong (CityU, CUHK, EdUHK, HKBU, HKU, HKUST, LingU, PolyU). Year 3, 4 and graduate students are preferred.
Is there an interview?
Yes. Selected applicants will be contacted via email to arrange a 15-minute interview. The purpose of this process is to ensure that you have the right skillset to join the program, as well as to give you the chance to get more detailed information regarding the program.
